CECEP Awarded Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award

Good news has arrived for scientific and technological workers at CECEP. At the 2017 National Science and Technology Awarding Meeting held in Beijing on January 8, the “key technology of rotary multi-step pyrolytic incineration of   hazardous wastes and coordinated pollutant control,” jointly developed by CECEP Dadi Environmental Remediation Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang University, won Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award.

Representing a major innovation of key generic technology in hazardous wastes disposal, the technology will help promote the development of China’s hazardous wastes disposal industry. In recent years, the amount of dangerous wastes generated has soaring in China, featuring complex sources from a wide array of industries alongside heavy international obligations. Thanks to its extensive adaptability, incineration disposal has been increasingly widely used for the treatment of hazardous wastes. Rotary kilns, which have been most widely used for incineration disposal, encounter three problems in actual operation: frequent start/stop operations caused by severe slag formation, excessive emissions and heavy pollution, and complex components. Targeting these three core difficulties and based on industry-university-research collaboration, the project team developed three innovative methods — multi-step pyrolytic incineration, coordinated process optimization, and materials characterization — which achieved significant breakthroughs in terms of stable and efficient combustion of melting slag, low-pollution emissions, and multi-component compatibility.
