Major Livelihood Project Undertaken by CQEC to Aid Bangladesh Officially Implemented

On March 30, the signing ceremony of the Implementation Agreement of China-Aid Project of Burn Unit of Chittagong Medical College Hospital undertaken by CQEC was held in Bangladesh.

H.E. Ambassador Yao Wen and H.E. Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Howlader, Secretary of Health Services Division, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare signed the "Implementation Agreement of China-Aid Project of Burn Unit of Chittagong Medical College Hospital in Bangladesh" respectively, on behalf of the governments of China and Bangladesh. The signing ceremony was witnessed by H.E. Mr. Deng Boqing, Vice-Chairman of CIDCA, H.E. Mr. Zahid Maleque, MP, Honorable Minister of Health and Family Welfare, and H.E. Mr. Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury, MP, Honorable Deputy Minister of Education.

At the ceremony, H.E. Mr. Zahid Maleque, MP, Honorable Minister of Health and Family Welfare expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Chinese government for its assistance in building the Burn Unit, praising it as another monument of friendship between China and Bangladesh. After the completion of the project, nearly 10,000 burn patients can be treated every year, which is a major livelihood project for the benefit of Bangladesh people. In charge of the design and management of the project, CQEC introduced its comprehensive capacity and the design plan of the project to all the officials and guests, expressing that it would give full play to the advantages of central enterprises in technology, management and talents, strengthen project management, create high-quality projects, so as to make positive contributions to the friendship between China and Bangladesh.

The project is located in Chittagong, the second largest city in Bangladesh, with a total construction area of about 9,000 square meters designated for the Burn Unit. Outpatient clinic, emergency clinic, emergency operating room, ICU and HDU are set up equipped with necessary medical equipment and appliances. After the completion of the project, it will become the second largest hospital focusing on burns treatment in Bangladesh, further enhancing the level of medical technology and medical education in the country and promoting local economic and social development.
